Delayed Due to Server Trouble!

Philip | Announcements | Thursday, 25 September 2008

Hello everyone,

I’m sorry to say that this months issue will be delayed due to server trouble. It is actually going through some upgrades. I’m not sure how long it will take, but if it doesn’t finish in the next week or so, we’ll have to cancel this months issue. But don’t worry, we’ll do a double issue next month if that happens!

Again, I’m very sorry!

COSMODE Online #004 has been Released!

Philip | Announcements | Monday, 25 August 2008

It’s done! I came in on Saturday and Sunday and today, (Monday in Japan) I came in at 6:00 am, just to finish this issue on time. Yes, I know what you’re thinking: it’s my own fault for procrastinating. Really, it wasn’t procrastination; this month is probably the busiest month for people in this industry in Japan: Comiket, World Cosplay Summit, Wonder Festival, etc. But I worked hard because I love you guys! Enjoy!

The How-to for this issue teaches you the basics of costume-making. You’ll learn how to make a Bunka-style sloper. This is how almost all fashion designers in Japan start making clothes.

Feature Photos: Professional photographs of 19 cosplayers showing off their hand-crafted costumes - no detail is too small to be left out!
Cosplay Snapshots: Snaps of hundreds of cosplayers from the various events in Japan!
World Cosplay Report: Cosplay Snapshots from Sakura-Con!
How-to Wig: Master natural-looking haircuts.
How-to Costume: Learn to make a Bunka-style sloper.
Cosplay Japanese: Speak with Japanese cosplayers!
COSMODE Life: How did you find your otaku friends?
COSMODE Life: Anthropomorphic Personality Test

My weekend, samples of COSMODE, and THE BLUE HEARTS

Philip | Announcements, Cosplay, Japan | Tuesday, 29 July 2008

I’m now well rested and ready to work on improving COSMODE Online! I learned something very important over the weekend: don’t go to any beaches near Tokyo. I went a beach 2 hours from Tokyo; I thought that was far enough to find a decent beach to body board. Guess not. The waves were nice and big, and I had a great time - but the sand was black (it wasn’t a black sand beach) and the water felt slimy on my skin.

OK, back on topic. I got the sample issues of COSMODE Online #003 ready for you guys so enjoy! You guys (more…)
